Musings, notes & tips for slow travel by writer & photographer, Emma Lavelle.

I write about everything from secret spots that I discover in the UK & abroad to my thoughts on how to travel more sustainably, mixed in with musings on travel planning, insights on my travel inspiration sources and mini-guides to the places I keep returning to. Because I’m a huge bookworm, also expect semi-regular book recommendations and my monthly book club.

What is Field Notes?

Field Notes will delve deeper into the slow travel content I share on my blog & Instagram. I’ll be waxing lyrical about slow travel, opening the pages of my Little Black Book of accommodation recommendations, and sharing insider guides to my favourite places.

I’m a massive bookworm and always take a stack of books with me when I’m travelling, so I’ll also be sharing my book recommendations.

A note on subscriptions

I publish two free newsletters a month that all my subscribers have access to: Field Notes (a smorgasbord of musings and recommendations from the past month) and my Book Club.

For just £5 a month, paid subscribers will also have access to weekly newsletters where I’ll be sharing my personal travel recommendations, tips and musings and 1-2 newsletters a month focused around my reading recommendations.

If you enjoy my content on Instagram and are looking for more depth and long form writing, or if you read my blog and want to read more of my musings, sign up with the link below. There will be a short preview of every paid post and there is an option for a week’s free trial, to see if a paid subscription is right for you. You can also cancel at any time if you choose to pay monthly.

Thank you for your support!
