Just a quick note for book lovers that I’m going to be shaking up my book content slightly. Going forward, there will be one book-related newsletter a month - my monthly book club newsletter which is free to all subscribers to read with my recent book reviews and an update of what I am currently reading.
However, this will now be a longer, juicer newsletter with it’s second part placed behind a paywall. Every month I will be writing more about books behind this paywall, sharing lists of books that I love, recommendations for if you enjoy particular books, and musings about reading. So basically, the same amount of book content, all rounded up in one lovely long newsletter that you can settle down to read with a cup of tea. If you’re here mainly for my book recommendations, I promise that you’ll come away from these newsletters with a long list of books that you want to read.
And so, this is my last stand-alone list of book recommendations. In keeping with the news of Sally Rooney’s next novel being released later this year, I’m going to share my favourite Irish books - set in Ireland and written by Irish authors. I have a real penchant for Irish novels; many of my favourite reads of recent years have been set in Ireland or written by Irish authors (usually both). It seems to be a fusion of enjoying an Irish ‘voice’ and romantic notions of the Irish countryside/studying at Trinity College. Read on for 10 Irish reads that I think you’ll love.
(Disclaimer, the following list features books set in both Ireland and Northern Ireland and both Irish and Northern Irish authors).
